Building PaperChai: Turning Existing Business Information into a Booking-Ready Website

PaperChai — Google Business profile to booking-ready website

Many small businesses already have an online presence.

They may have a Google Business Profile, an Instagram page, a visiting card, a brochure, a Facebook Page or an old website. Their business information is available online, but it is scattered across different platforms.

Customers may need to search several places to find:

  • Services and pricing
  • Business hours
  • Customer reviews
  • Photos
  • Contact information
  • Location
  • Appointment availability

At the same time, traditional website builders often expect the business owner to begin with a blank page. They must select a design, write the content, arrange sections, upload images and understand technical settings.

For many small-business owners, this becomes too much work.

That is the problem I am trying to solve with PaperChai.

What is PaperChai?

PaperChai is an India-first website builder that turns information a person or business already has into a polished one-page website.

Instead of asking users to start from an empty template, PaperChai allows them to begin with sources such as:

  • Google Business or Maps listing
  • Existing website
  • Instagram or Facebook presence
  • Visiting card
  • Brochure or business document
  • Resume or CV
  • Notion page
  • YouTube or GitHub profile
  • A simple manual business brief

PaperChai extracts the useful information, organises it into website sections and creates a first draft that the owner can review and edit.

The goal is simple:

Help small businesses launch a useful website without needing design, coding or copywriting knowledge.

Why I Started Building It

A large number of Indian businesses operate through a combination of Google Maps, Instagram and WhatsApp.

This works for basic discovery, but it creates several problems.

Their services may be buried inside social-media posts. Pricing may be unclear. Customers may not know how to book. Important reviews, photos, opening hours and contact information remain separated across different platforms.

A proper website could solve this, but many small businesses do not have the time or budget to work with an agency.

PaperChai is designed to reduce that gap.

A business owner should be able to provide information they already have, review the generated content and publish a professional website quickly.

More Than an AI Website Generator

Generating a website is only the first part.

A business website should help the owner receive enquiries and bookings. That is why PaperChai also includes practical business features.

One-page business website

PaperChai can organise business information into sections such as:

  • Hero introduction
  • About the business
  • Services
  • Pricing
  • Gallery
  • Reviews and testimonials
  • Opening hours
  • Location and map
  • Frequently asked questions
  • Contact information
  • WhatsApp call to action
  • Booking section

Booking management

Businesses can enable booking and appointment requests directly from their published website.

Depending on the setup, customers can:

  • Select a service
  • Choose a preferred date and time
  • Submit their contact details
  • Book through WhatsApp
  • Use an external calendar
  • Select available native booking slots

The business owner can review upcoming requests from a simple dashboard and update the booking status.

Post-publish editing

Publishing a website should not make it permanent or difficult to update.

PaperChai allows the owner to reopen the website, edit the information and republish it using the same URL. Updating a website does not create a duplicate site or consume another site slot.

Subdomains and custom domains

Every generated website can be published on a PaperChai subdomain, such as:

business-name.paperchaiapp.com

Paid users can also connect their own custom domain.

Who PaperChai Is For

PaperChai is being designed primarily for small businesses and solo professionals who need a simple online presence with clear business actions.

Potential users include:

  • Salons and beauty professionals
  • Makeup artists
  • Clinics and independent doctors
  • Consultants
  • Lawyers
  • Fitness trainers
  • Tutors
  • Photographers
  • Event professionals
  • Restaurants and cafés
  • Freelancers
  • Creators
  • Local service providers

The current product direction is especially focused on businesses that rely on appointments, WhatsApp enquiries or local discovery.

The Initial Product Strategy

It is tempting to support every platform and every business category from the beginning.

However, a focused product is easier to explain, test and improve.

The strongest initial PaperChai workflow is:

  1. Paste a Google Business or Maps link.
  2. Import the available business information.
  3. Review and correct the extracted details.
  4. Generate a one-page website.
  5. Add services and booking availability.
  6. Publish the website.
  7. Receive booking requests and WhatsApp enquiries.

Other sources such as Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Notion and GitHub can be expanded gradually based on real customer demand.

Technical Direction

PaperChai is being developed as a modern web application with a strong focus on reusable website data, publishing and business workflows.

The platform includes:

  • Next.js-based application architecture
  • Postgres data persistence
  • AI-assisted content extraction and generation
  • Email verification
  • Multi-source imports
  • Editable generated websites
  • Wildcard subdomain publishing
  • Custom-domain support
  • Email and WhatsApp booking
  • Native scheduling
  • Subscription billing architecture

One of the important architectural decisions is separating the imported source from the final website structure.

Different sources can contain very different information, but PaperChai converts them into a common business profile. That structured profile can then be rendered through different designs without making the website dependent on one particular platform.

Building for Trust

AI-generated content should not be published blindly.

PaperChai includes a review step so users can confirm imported and generated information before publishing.

This is particularly important when AI suggests:

  • Services
  • Headlines
  • Business descriptions
  • Frequently asked questions
  • Benefits inferred from reviews
  • Testimonials or trust statements

The owner should always remain in control of what appears on the final website.

What I Am Learning While Building PaperChai

Building PaperChai is not only a website-generation problem.

It involves several connected product challenges:

  • Making onboarding understandable for non-technical users
  • Importing information reliably
  • Handling missing or incomplete business data
  • Creating useful content without fabricating details
  • Building editing without breaking published URLs
  • Managing custom domains
  • Preventing double bookings
  • Designing plan restrictions without damaging the user experience
  • Making the generated website valuable enough to pay for

The biggest lesson is that the website itself is not the final outcome.

The real outcome is helping a business appear professional, communicate clearly and receive more enquiries or bookings.

Current Direction

The immediate focus is to release a clear and useful first version around:

  • Google Business and manual-data import
  • AI-generated one-page websites
  • Editing and republishing
  • PaperChai subdomains
  • WhatsApp and contact actions
  • Service listings
  • Booking management
  • Subscription billing

More advanced integrations can be introduced after observing how real businesses use the product.

Final Thought

Small businesses should not need to become designers, developers or marketers just to create a useful website.

Their business information already exists.

PaperChai’s job is to turn that existing information into a clear, professional and actionable online presence.

PaperChai is currently under development and will initially focus on helping Indian small businesses turn their existing business information into booking-ready websites.
